Executive Board

The Executive Board consists of the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chair, a representative of the Illinois Community College Board, and the Chairs of the Professional Development Committee and the Communication/Marketing Committee.

The role of the Executive Board is to guide and support the Organization in accomplishing its mission. This includes facilitating a shared vision and strategic plan as well as approval of committee recommendations, expenditures and overall management of the Organization. 

Election of Officers

The election for President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Membership Chair will be held at the annual fall meeting. Positions are elected by a majority vote of those members present and voting. Terms of office will be one year beginning January 1st and expiring December 31. The President-Elect shall be elected to a two-year term with one year as President-Elect and the second year as President.

Responsibilities of Executive Board

President

The President is the principal executive officer of ICCET.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and monitor all resolutions and directives of the Executive Board.
  • Plan, coordinate and provide notice of ICCET meetings and events.
  • Appoint committee chairs and committee members as necessary to carry out Organization business.
  • Monitor progress of all standing committees.
  • Serve on the ICCCA Executive Committee and attend its monthly meetings.
  • Represent ICCET as State Liaison to National Council for Continuing Education and Training (NCCET) in all matters.
  • Submit reports to the NCCET North Central Regional Director as requested.
  • Co-Chair with the President-elect in planning the fall conference.
  • Prepare the Annual Report for the fall conference
  • Co-Chair the Strategic Planning Retreat with the President-elect.
  • Represent ICCET on the ICCEDA/ICCET Spring Conference Planning Committee.
  • Act as mentor for the President-Elect.

President-Elect

Under direction of the President, the President-Elect will assist with various projects in preparation for transition to President. In the absence of the President, the President-Elect will perform the duties of President having all powers of and being subject to all restrictions upon the President.

Responsibilities include:

  • Chair of the Nomination Committee.
  • Co-Chair with the President in planning the fall conference.
  • Co-Chair the Strategic Planning Retreat with the President.
  • Record official minutes of all meetings in the absence of the Secretary.

Secretary

The Secretary will be the official record keeper for the Organization and will serve on the Executive Board. Upon expiration of the elected term, all books and records belonging to ICCET will be turned over to the incoming Secretary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Record and distribute the official minutes of all meetings of ICCET.
  • Update the Strategic Operations Procedures Manual as needed.
  • Collect information on all ICCET Board actions and organizational activities.
  • Maintain copies of all Treasurer reports, committee reports and conference activities.
  • Maintain historical records of ICCET.

Treasurer

The Treasurer will be the principal accounting and financial officer for ICCET. Upon expiration of the elected term, all account records belonging to ICCET will be turned over to the incoming Treasurer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accurate books of account for the Organization.
  • Responsible for the receipt and disbursement of funds.
  • Prepare written financial statement for Executive Board and membership meetings.
  • Investigate options for investment of funds.
  • Prepare year-end profit/loss statement for fall membership meeting.
  • Keep records in an electronic format that can be transferred to incoming Treasurer.
  • Arrange for transfer of signature card at bank for transition to incoming Treasurer.
  • Maintain records for filing tax returns.

Membership Chair

The Membership Chair will maintain all records pertaining to membership. Upon expiration of elected term, all membership records belonging to ICCET will be turned over the incoming Membership Chair.

Responsibilities include:

  • Solicit membership applications and annual renewals.
  • Receive membership dues and transfer funds to the Treasurer upon receipt.
  • Guide and direct the Membership Committee.
  • Send confirmation/thank you letters to new and previous members.
  • Create and distribute the membership directory.
  • Maintain regular communication with college representatives.

Immediate Past-President

The Immediate Past-President will assist and mentor the President in leading the Organization. Active participation in the Organization is recommended.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide continuity and support to the President.
  • Act as an informational resource for the Organization.

Illinois Community College Board Liaison

A liaison from the Illinois Community College Board will assist the President and other Executive Board members in the discharge of their duties and represent the Organization at the state-level. The President and CEO of the Illinois Community College Board appoints the liaison.
